Counselling

My counselling style is person-centred and trauma informed, using psycho-education and evidence-based interventions.

I draw from various modalities including:

  • Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT)

  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

  • Solution Focussed Therapy (SFT)

  • Motivational Interviewing (MI)

  • As a former commercial litigation lawyer, I understand the dynamics of high pressure workplaces. I help people to establish an effective work life balance to prevent burnout promote sound mental health. I assist in developing effective and efficient work practices, improving communication and interpersonal skills and identifying core values and strengths.

  • Working with young people to help increase resilience and emotional regulation and improve psychological flexibility. I can help with mood disorders, anxiety and behavioural issues.

  • I provide support for parents whose children have special needs, are having difficulties at school or displaying challenging behaviours.

  • I help clients who are experiencing life transitions of all kinds, whether related to work, relationships, or change of life.

  • I work with adults and adolescents to help with common issues such as:

    • anxiety

    • depression

    • grief and loss

    • substance and behavioural addictions

    • emotional regulation

    • unpleasant emotions and intrusive thoughts

  • Our sessions can help you to develop skills and strategies including:

    • assertive communication 

    • effecting change

    • decision making

    • values work 

    • interpersonal skills

How it works

My aim is to teach you the skills and strategies you need within 6 - 10 sessions so you can self-regulate.

I also support clients through long term life stressors and provide top-up or check-in sessions.

To get the most out of counselling is extremely important to feel comfortable and a sense of connection with your counsellor, so choosing the right person to work with is crucial.

I want you to feel heard and understood, and safe to explore what may be difficult emotions.
